Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci has been told to find another club, and the fans are rather happy about it.
The controversial character has been part of the Whites since his 2014 move from Catania, but his importance in the team has dwindled.
Last season, the Italian joined Empoli on loan, but due to the club’s relegation from Serie A, a permanent move did not materialise.
Bellusci returned to Leeds and featured in two pre-season friendlies, but was then given time to find a new club.
The defender was left out of Wednesday’s friendly at North Ferriby and it seems that there is no way back for Bellusci after he had an argument with a group of fans during half time of Leeds’ pre-season match against Guiseley last week.
Christiansen told the Yorkshire Evening Post:
“Bellusci is already out. Everyone took this decision. It was clear. The situation was not easy but we understood that this is best for the team and the club. We have to handle it as well as possible.”
Leeds are full of optimism ahead of the new Championship season, despite losing manager Garry Monk.
Andrea Radrizzani has taken full control of the club, and he has been quick to make new signings as well as keep his promise of buying back Elland Road.
There is a feel-good factor surrounding Leeds at the moment, so losing Bellusci has been seen as a positive among most fans.
