It is going to cost Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid a lot of money to get Richarlison out of Everton this summer, ex-Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer has told The Transfer Tavern.
Richarlison continues to be linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu following Ancelotti’s appointment as Real Madrid manager, with reports in Spain suggesting that the Italian is eyeing up a reunion with his former player.
According to El Confidencial, Ancelotti wants to bring Richarlison to the Spanish capital in a deal that could cost up to €90m (£76m) as he looks to add more goals to his new squad.
Speaking exclusively to TT about the speculation surrounding the Brazil international, Palmer said:
“Players are going to be linked with former managers, that’s just a natural thing. I think Carlo Ancelotti would definitely be interested in him, but I’ll tell you what, it’s going to take a lot of money for Everton to allow him to leave.”
Richarlison was not at his best last season, scoring just seven goals in the Premier League, a drop off from the 13 he recorded in both the 2019/20 and 2018/19 campaigns.
Nevertheless, he is still one of Everton’s most important players and is still just 24, giving him time and room to grow into an even better footballer. With that in mind, it is hard to see the Toffees selling this summer and so late in the transfer window.
