According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are closing on a deal for Genk goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.
It is not exactly breaking news that Villa want to sign a new stopper, with summer arrival Orjan Nyland failing to convince between the sticks.
Villa have recently been linked with a swoop for Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, but some of the club’s fans called for Tom Heaton to be their new stopper.
According to the Birmingham Mail, the club have identified Kalinic as the perfect player to arrive in January, and are looking to tie up a deal as soon as possible.
The 28-year-old is a 16-time Croatia international, and represented his country at the 2018 World Cup.
The Villa fans have been on social media discussing their club’s reported interest in Kalinic, and it would be fair to say that a large number want the 6ft 7in ace to arrive.
